It Started with a Vision: The Discover Goldthwaite Journey

In 2019, the City of Goldthwaite, Texas, partnered with the Austin-based digital marketing agency, Found, to lay the groundwork for economic growth and community development. City Manager Rob Lindsey and the economic development committee envisioned a thriving Goldthwaite—one that celebrated its rich agricultural heritage while attracting developers, business owners, young families, and retirees.

Thus, the Discover Goldthwaite campaign was born. This initiative sought to highlight the exceptional quality of life and economic opportunities in Mills County, encouraging more people to live, work, and invest in the region. Found worked alongside the committee to craft a new brand identity, complete with a fresh logo, to establish a distinct look and feel for Goldthwaite. Fast forward five years, and the campaign has not only met but exceeded expectations, paving the way for incredible growth and transformation.

CTTC: A Pillar of Connectivity and Progress

For over 70 years, Central Texas Telephone Cooperative (CTTC) has been a vital part of the Goldthwaite community, delivering reliable telephone services since 1951. As technology advanced, CTTC kept pace, evolving from landlines to fiber-optic and broadband services that now bring high-speed internet to rural Central Texas.

With the rise of remote work, e-commerce, and digital business, CTTC has played a crucial role in positioning Goldthwaite as a preferred rural destination. Entrepreneurs, professionals, and families seeking fast, reliable connectivity found a home in Goldthwaite—thanks in part to CTTC’s steadfast commitment. As an early supporter of the Discover Goldthwaite campaign, CTTC provided both financial backing and strategic guidance, helping to shape the initiative into what it is today.

Accelerated Growth & New Goals

In the early days of 2019, the expectation was that it would take a few years to see significant interest in Goldthwaite’s land and business opportunities. However, the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically accelerated this timeline. As people sought safer, less crowded environments, small Texas communities, including Goldthwaite, saw a surge in land sales, increased tax revenue, and growing interest from new residents and businesses.

With land sales booming, the campaign pivoted in 2021 to focus on tourism, community events, and business promotion. This shift brought visibility to exciting new businesses such as Southside Tavern, Switch Salon, Spa & Boutique, and the legendary Pecans.com. Goldthwaite was no longer just a place to settle—it was becoming a vibrant, welcoming destination.

A Thriving Business Community

As new businesses flourished, efforts turned toward revitalizing Goldthwaite’s historic downtown. The Discover Goldthwaite campaign played a crucial role in filling vacant buildings, drawing attention to community events, and fostering a sense of local pride.

One major success story was Joyful Trading Co., whose owners credited the campaign as a key factor in their decision to expand. Meanwhile, community events such as the Christmas Parade of Lights, the Annual Goat & BBQ Cookoff, and the Hunters’ Chili Event saw record attendance, thanks to collaborative efforts with the Goldthwaite Chamber of Commerce.

These initiatives yielded impressive results—since the launch of Discover Goldthwaite, sales tax revenue for the city has surged by over 46%. And as 2025 begins, the future looks even brighter!
